The Empowering Social Work Practice Education in Nepal (ESWPEN) project aims to strengthen social work education, enhance professional competencies, and foster collaboration among universities in Nepal. The project focuses on developing a sustainable and high-quality model for field practice education that is responsive to local needs and realities.
ESWPEN emphasizes improving practice education through capacity-building initiatives, including training and resource development for field supervisors. It also promotes stronger collaboration between universities and social service organizations to ensure quality supervision and meaningful learning experiences for social work students.
The project is coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland and implemented in partnership with Tribhuvan University, Mid-Western University, Purbanchal University, the University of Ostrava, and UNED.
As part of its implementation, key project meetings were successfully conducted in January 2026, including the Project Management Board Meeting, inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, and Chandra Kant Bhusal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology at The Hotel Himalaya.
The Kick-off and Cross-Sector Advisory Board Meeting was also held in both physical and virtual formats which brought together representatives from academia, government, development partners, and relevant sectors and seed trainer to formally initiate the project activities and strengthen cross-sector collaboration.
Through these collaborative efforts, the project promotes strong coordination among academia, government bodies, and key stakeholders to enhance the quality, relevance, and impact of social work education in Nepal.
